N'Gouja Beach of Mayotte

 

 

Mayoutte Post promoted the tourism of their beach, N’Gouja Beach through the issuance of one panorama stamp on November 12, 2007.

Beach N'Gouja spreads its white sand along a large cove slightly curved, situated on the commune of Kani-Keli. A small ten huge baobab trees, planted majestically on the sand, emerging from the tropical vegetation that surrounds it. The light sand gives the ocean a beautiful color that ranges from turquoise and jade. Please see video of N’Gouja Beach .

Orchid of Mayotte

 

Mayotte Post issued one stamp feature the orchid of Mayotte on January 22, 2007. The stamp presents Phanelopsis orchid.

Phalaenopsis is one of the most popular orchids in the trade, through the development of many artificial hybrids. They are native throughout southeast Asia from the Himalayan mountains to the islands of Polillo, Palawan and Zamboanga del Norte in the island of Mindanao in the Philippines and northern Australia.

The species are sometimes called Moth orchids because some species resemble moths in flight.

Phalaenopsis are among the most popular orchids sold as potted plants owing to the ease of propagation and flowering under artificial conditions. They were among the first tropical orchids in Victorian collections.

Fiji Post issued a set of six stamps to celebrate Christmas 2001 which feature the Christmas Nativity story. The Christmas story is illustrated in according to the Fijian culture.

The 17c stamp represents The angel Gabriel said to Mary: 'Peace be with you! God has blessed you and is pleased with you.' Mary was very surprised by this and wondered what the angel meant.

The 34 c stamp represents  “In this poor place Mary gave birth to Jesus, the Son of God. In those days it was the custom to wrap newborn babies tightly in a long cloth called 'swaddling clothes'. Jesus' bed was the manger that the animals ate their hay from.”


Karaoglan - Turkish Cartoon Heroes

Turkey Post commemorates their historical comic which have been exist long time ago by issuing a set of four stamps feature Karaoğlan, Turkish Cartoon Heroes, on April 20, 2006.  This stamps are part of other  the comic stamp series .
Karaoğlan is a Turkish historical comic book that was created in 1963 by Suat Yalaz.

The comic's story takes place between the 12th and 13th centuries in Central Asia during the reign of Cengiz Khan.

The main character of the story , Karaoğlan, is a young Uygur Turkic adventurer who worked as a scout in Cengiz Khan's army.
Karaoğlan is portrayed as an 23 years-old adventurous and brave youngster. He is nomadic and travels throughout Eurasia in his stories. He traveled as far as China, İndia, Konstantinople and Siberia.
 
Karaoğlan is accompanied by his faithful friend Balaban, an ex-captain in Mongolian army and his father Baybora. His arch-nemesis is Camoka, a Mongolian bandit who raids villages with his men

Sherlock Holmes

The author, (Sir) Arthur Conan-Doyle wrote his first Holmes story, A Study In Scarlet, in 1886. Sherlock Holmes, a fictitious character was based on a real man, Dr Joseph Bell, a renown forensic scientist at Edinburgh University whom Conan-Doyle studied under.
On October 29, 2010, Alderney Post , pay tribute his inspiration to many crime novelist, issued a set of six stamps feature his stories.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, born on 22 May 1859, is best known crime novelist for his famous creation Sherlock Holmes.
Following his term at university, Conan Doyle was employed as a doctor on the Greenland whaler Hope of Peterhead, in 1880, and, after his graduation, as a ship's surgeon on the SS Mayumba during a voyage to the West African coast, in 1881. He completed his doctorate on the subject of tabes dorsalis in 1885 .

Ford Model T Centenary

The Ford Model T car was designed by Childe Harold Wills and Hungarian immigrants, Joseph A. Galamb and Eugene Farkas. Henry Love, C. J. Smith, Gus Degner and Peter E. Martin were also part of the team.

Production of the Model T began in the third quarter of 1908. Their product presents the diversity of colours and physical adaptations.

The theme of this six stamps which issued by Alderney Post is highlighting significant aircraft story on April 10, 2003. 

The story of 100 years of aviation that have laid claim to a place in history. The 22 p stamp pays tribute to Wilbur and Orville Wright who, on 17 December 1903, finally realized their vision of powered human flight.

The 27 p stamp presents a Vickers Vimy in their 16-hour journey from Newfoundland. 

John Alcock and his navigator, Arthur Whitten Brown, became the first aviators to fly non-stop across the Atlantic.

Vintage and Classic Cars of Sri Lanka

To commemorate  the  Vintage and Classic Cars, Sri Lanka Post issued a set of four stamps feature the old fashioned cars on October 2011.

The Classic Cars depicted on stamps are Morris Minor 1949, Jaguar SS 100, Roll Royce 20/25, Austin 12-1928.




The Morris Minor is a British economy car which has  designed under the leadership of Alec Issigonis, and more than 1.3 million were manufactured between 1948 and 1971.The Minor was manufactured in three series: the MM (1948), the Series II (1952) and finally the 1000 series (1956).

Initially available as a 2-door saloon and tourer (convertible), the range was subsequently expanded to include a 4-door saloon in 1950, and in 1952 a wood-framed estate (the Traveller), panel van and pick-up truck variants.

This set of six gummed stamps features key characters from ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’.

International Year of sustainable energy for all

Ban Ki-Moon, UNO’s General Secretary commented on the initiative and warned: “The lack of energy must finish, we shall have the possibility to switch on the light in all houses, to reduce poverty and give everyone an opportunity, to lead the economic stimulus and fight climatic changes”.

 
UNO declared the 2012 International Year of sustainable energy for all. The UNO’s main goal is set-up the public opinion aware and lead the governments decisions towards the theme of sustainability.

To support this resolution, San Marino Post issued a set of four stamps feature how to make a global revolution  “ a new idea of clean energy” on May 9, 2012
The issue stamps depict  energy in short aeolian : sun, hydroelectric and marine, from biomasses and geothermal. The designer is Franco Filanci, one of the most prolific author of stamps and philatelic books and now President of ‘Accademia italiana di filatelia e storia postale’.

The large square shape and vibrant colours bring the road trip to life.The 60c stamp represent the Great Barrier Reef, the world's largest coral reef system, which hugs some 2,000 kilometers of coastline.

50th Anniversary of The Australian Ballet

The Australian Ballet is notable for its classical and contemporary dance repertoire, and for the versatility, technical skill and warmth that its dancers bring to performances.
They  marks 50 years in an illustrious history as Australia's premier ballet company .
 
Pay attention to  their anniversary, Australia Post issued a set of two single stamps features the ballet performances on October 16, 2012.
The Australian Ballet was formed in 1962 under the guidance of founding artistic director Peggy van Praagh. 


Peggy van Praagh  introduced two key initiatives during her tenure: a ballet school, which opened under the direction of Margaret Scott in 1964, and continuity of employment for the company's dancers.
