Airplanes designed by Pavel Sukhoi

Belarus Post issued the stamps series featured Airplanes designed by Pavel Sukhoi on 23th of February 2000.
Su- 24 is Bomber airplane, Su-27 is Fighter airplane, and Su-25 is Ground attack plane.
Pavel Osipovich Sukhoi or Pavel Sukhoi is a Belarusian Soviet aircraft constructor and designer and was born on July 1895 in Hlybokaye near Vitebsk, a small town in Belarus.

In September 1939 Sukhoi founded an independent engineering and design department named Sukhoi Design Bureau (OKB Sukhoi). Located in Kharkov, Sukhoi was not satisfied with the geographical location of the OKB.The relocation to the aerodome of Podmoskovye was completed in the first half of 1940. The aircraft-bombers developed under Sukhoi are the Su-17 and the Su-24. The last fighter Sukhoi designed was the T-10 (Su-27) but he did not live to see it fly. On December 25, 1975 the President of the Academy of Science of the Soviet Union posthumously decorated Sukhoi with the golden medal, in recognition of his deep scientific scholarship.
The Sukhoi Su-24 is an all-weather interdiction and attack aircraft developed in the Soviet Union. The two-seat, twin-engined Su-24 carried the USSR's first integrated digital nav/attack system. It remains in service with former Soviet air forces and various export nations.
The Su-24 has a shoulder-mounted variable geometry wing outboard of a relatively small fixed wing glove, swept at 69°. The wing has four sweep settings: 16° for take-off and landing, 35° and 45° for cruise at different altitudes, and 69° for minimum aspect ratio and wing area in low-level dashes. The variable geometry wing provides excellent STOL performance, allowing a landing speed of 230 km/h (143 mph), despite substantially greater take-off weight. Its high wing loading provides a stable low-level ride and minimal gust response.
The Su-24 had two Saturn/Lyulka AL-21F-3A afterburning turbojet engines with 109.8 kN (24,700 lbf) thrust each, fed with air from two rectangular side mounted intakes with spliter plates/boundary-layer diverters.About 1,400 Su-24s were produced. Substantial numbers of ex-Soviet Su-24s remain in service with Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan and Ukraine. Roughly 415 are currently operational with Russian forces, split 321 with the Russian Air Force and 94 with the Russian Navy.
The Sukhoi Su-25 is a single-seat, twin-engine jet aircraft developed in the Soviet Union by the Sukhoi Design Bureau. It was designed to provide close air support for the Soviet Ground Forces. The first prototype made its maiden flight on 22 February 1975.By year 2007, the Su-25 is the only armoured airplane still in production.The Su-25 has a normal aerodynamic layout with a shoulder-mounted trapezoidal wing and a conventional tailplane and rudder. Several different metals in differing amounts are used in the construction of the airframe: 60% aluminium, 19% steel, 13.5% titanium, 2% magnesium alloy, and 5.5% other materials.The avionics system of the Su-25 consists of several components:Weapons-aiming system, A DISS-7 Doppler radar,Navigation system,Radios for air-to-ground and air-to-air communications,Weapons-control system,Self-defence suite, incorporating infra-red, flare and chaff dispensers,SPO-15 radar homing & warning system (RHAWS) and SO-69 identification-friend-or-foe (IFF) transponder.
During its more than twenty-five years in service, the Su-25 has seen combat with several air forces. It was heavily involved in the Soviet war in Afghanistan, flying counter-insurgency missions against the Mujahideen.
The Sukhoi Su-27 is a one-seat Mach-2 class jet fighter originally manufactured by the Soviet Union, and designed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau. It was intended as a direct competitor for the large United States fourth generation fighters, with long 3,530 km range, heavy armament, sophisticated avionics and high agility. The Su-27 most often flies air superiority missions, but is able to perform almost all combat operations.
The Su-27’s basic design is aerodynamically similar to the MiG-29, but it is substantially larger. It is a very large aircraft, and to minimize its weight its structure has a high percentage of titanium (about 30%, more than any of its contemporaries). No composite materials were used. The swept wing blends into the fuselage at the leading edge extensions and is essentially a delta, although the tips are cropped for wingtip missile rails or ECM pods. Its supplemented the two fold-down ventral fins for additional lateral stability.The Su-27’s Lyulka AL-31F turbofan engines are widely spaced, both for safety reasons and to ensure uninterrupted airflow through the intakes. The space between the engines also provides additional lift, reducing wing loading. Movable guide vanes in the intakes allow Mach 2+ speeds, and help to maintain engine airflow at high alpha. A mesh screen over each intake prevents debris from being drawn into the engines during take-off.
